The purpose of this association is to promote studies on Thomas Hardy (1840-1928), a prolific English writer of novels, poetry, short stories and more.

FATHOM intends to encourage research by allowing researchers worldwide to exchange information – whether these researchers be academics or not, professors/teachers or students, whatever their field of investigation may be (literature, cultural studies, history, cinema, psychoanalysis), whatever their approach.
The association welcomes any person desiring to gain deeper insight into the work of Thomas Hardy, and to make their work known to others, hoping also to develop further interest in Thomas Hardy among academics, students, and the general public, by a critical reflection on the different approaches to his work.
